Did you know that it is estimated that 400 million toothpaste tubes are discarded every year in the United States only? On the global level, that number rises to 1.5 billion discarded toothpaste tubes. AND about one billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away every year in the United States, creating 50 million pounds of waste annually.
In this Episode, we are joined by Lindsay McCormick (founder of zero waste toothpaste brand BITE) to discuss facts and hacks around our teeth routine, and how effortless it is to switch our teeth routine to a zero-waste habit.

HACKS
There are so many options out there now for toothpaste that does not come in a plastic tube. Since brushing our teeth is part of our daily routine, it may take some time to find the right fit for you. Companies like Bite deliver to your door. Most local health food stores will have tables or powder that come in glass jars. The switch is easy, it is just changing a habit.
Swap plastic toothbrushes for bamboo.
Reuse and upcycle your toothbrush handle. There are many ideas on this in the world side web.
Swap synthetic dental floss in a plastic container for refillable silk floss in a glass container.
For mouthwash, seek out your local refill station. They are popping up all over, and you may have one closer to you than you think.
